Call for Bylaws Amendments & Resolutions
2025-2026 Submission Period

As part of FSMB’s commitment to member engagement and collaborative governance, we invite you to participate in this year’s call for bylaws amendments and proposed resolutions. These submissions are an important way for members to help guide the policies, practices, and priorities of the organization.

Your input ensures that the issues most relevant to our community are considered by the House of Delegates at the upcoming Annual Meeting.

Bylaws Amendments

The FSMB Bylaws Committee will meet on November 20, 2025, to consider requests for amendments to the FSMB Bylaws. Bylaws may be amended at any Annual Meeting of the House of Delegates by a two-thirds vote of those present and voting. Proposals may be submitted only by the Board of Directors, member medical boards, or the Bylaws Committee and its members. The Bylaws were last amended in April 2025. View the current bylaws.

Submit proposed amendments electronically to:
FSMB Bylaws Committee
c/o Humayun J. Chaudhry, DO, MACP, President and CEO
Secretary, Board of Directors

The submission deadline is November 5, 2025.

Resolutions

Resolutions play a vital role in FSMB’s policy-making process. They help identify issues of importance to medical regulation and bring them before the House of Delegates, the organization’s official policy-making body.

Recent resolutions have led to new policies and programs that strengthen public protection nationwide. We encourage you to engage with your colleagues and consider what new policies could benefit the broader medical regulatory community.

  • Submission Deadline: February 27, 2026
  • House of Delegates Meeting: April 30-May 2, 2026, in conjunction with the 2026 FSMB Annual Meeting
  • Learn more about the policy-making process and view a sample resolution

Submit resolutions* electronically to:
Lauren Mitchell
Manager, Board of Directors Liaison and Governance Support
lmitchell@fsmb.org

*If submitting more than one resolution, please do so in one email.

Make Your Voice Heard

Your participation is essential in ensuring that FSMB continues to respond to the needs and priorities of its members. Please submit your proposed amendments and resolutions by the deadlines above.

Staff Fellows Nominations

FSMB is now accepting nominations for Staff Fellows to serve on the FSMB Board of Directors. Eligible nominees are individuals hired or appointed to oversee the day-to-day administrative duties and functions of a medical board.

The FSMB Board will appoint the selected nominees at its February 2026 meeting. Each Staff Fellow will serve a two-year term, with the possibility of one reappointment. Newly appointed Staff Fellows will participate in the Investiture of the Board during FSMB AM26 on Saturday, May 2, and join the Board for its first meeting the following morning.

FSMB member medical boards, the Board of Directors, and Administrators in Medicine (AIM) members may submit nominations.

Immediately following FSMB AM26, April 30-May 2 in Baltimore, MD, the newly elected FSMB Chair will finalize appointments to standing committees – including Audit, Bylaws, Education, Ethics and Professionalism, Finance, and Journal Oversight – as well as potential special committees or workgroups. Committee service will begin in May 2026.

If you are interested in serving on a standing or special committee, workgroup, or the Reference or Rules Committee, please submit the required materials by Monday, December 15, 2025 (applications received later may still be considered).

Nominations for Service Awards

FSMB is proud to recognize individuals that demonstrate outstanding service and leadership in medical licensure and discipline. During FSMB AM26, we will present the Award of Merit, Leadership Award, Distinguished Service Award, and Lifetime Achievement Award to deserving individuals.

If you know someone whose dedication and accomplishments deserve to be celebrated, we encourage you to submit a nomination. The deadline to submit is Friday, December 19, 2025. Please ensure your nominee has not previously received the same award. Full award descriptions, qualifications, and a list of past recipients can be found in our Awards Nomination Guidelines.

To nominate an individual, email your nomination letter and the nominee’s CV or bio to edu@fsmb.org by December 19, 2025. Nominations received after this date cannot be considered, so we encourage you to plan ahead and submit early.
